More About Us

The Tae Kwon Educational Center Difference

  • Master-Directed Excellence: Every class is overseen by Master Lee to ensure the highest quality training.

  • The Power of Balance: We use the Taegeuk philosophy to help students find focus on and off the mats.

  • Small Class Advantage: Your child is never just a number. We provide individualized attention for faster growth.

Tae Kwon Educational Center's Teaching Philosophy

At Tae Kwon Educational Center, we believe martial arts is more than just a sport—it is a foundation for life. Our teaching is rooted in three guiding principles:

  • Taegeuk (The Principle of Balance): We teach the harmony between mind and body. Strength is nothing without the discipline to control it, and technique is nothing without the character to use it wisely.

  • Radical Equality: Our dojang is a place of mutual respect. Whether you are a beginner or a black belt, a child or an adult, you are treated with the same dignity and high expectations.

  • Individualized Excellence: We recognize that every student’s journey is unique. We don’t use a "one-size-fits-all" approach; we tailor our feedback to match your specific learning style and pace.

Our Methods: How We Teach

We bridge the gap between ancient tradition and modern education through these specific methods:

1. Personalized Progression

Instead of comparing students to one another, we measure success based on personal improvement. We focus on "small wins" to build the confidence needed for long-term mastery.

2. The "Student-First" Environment

We maintain a high instructor-to-student focus, ensuring that every person on the mat receives direct attention. This allows us to correct form in real-time and provide the encouragement each individual needs.

3. Holistic Character Development

Every class includes "mat chats" or lessons on mental fortitude. We teach students how to apply the focus they find in Taekwondo to their schoolwork, careers, and relationships.

Visitor Guide & FAQ

Preparing for Your First Visit

  1. How do I sign up for a trial class?

    • Answer: You can register right here on our website or give us a call. We’ll find a time that works best for your schedule and your child’s age group.

  2. What should I (or my child) wear to the first class?

    • Answer: No uniform is needed for your first day! Please wear comfortable, stretchy athletic clothes like leggings or sweatpants and a T-shirt. We train barefoot, so shoes will be left in our designated cubbies.

  3. How early should we arrive?

    • Answer: Please arrive about 10–15 minutes early. This gives us time to show you around the studio, introduce you to the instructors, and help you feel comfortable before class starts.

  4. Do I need to stay and watch the class?

    • Answer: Yes, we encourage parents to stay for the first session! It’s a great way for you to see our teaching style and for your child to feel supported while they try something new.

  5. Is it okay if my child is shy or has no experience?

    • Answer: Absolutely. Most of our new students have never done martial arts before. Our instructors are experts at making shy children feel welcome and helping them gain confidence at their own pace.

What to Expect During Training

  1. What will the first class look like?

    • Answer: We start with a fun warm-up, followed by basic martial arts movements like blocking and kicking. We also integrate a "Life Skill" lesson—like focus or respect—into every session.

  2. Is martial arts safe for young children?

    • Answer: Safety is our #1 priority. Our curriculum is age-appropriate, and all drills are supervised by certified instructors to ensure a positive and injury-free environment.

  3. Will my child have to "fight" anyone on the first day?

    • Answer: Not at all. Sparring is an advanced skill that is only introduced after a student has mastered the basics and has the proper protective gear. The first day is all about learning the fundamentals.

  4. Do you offer classes for different age groups?

    • Answer: Yes, we group our students by age and skill level to ensure everyone receives the right level of challenge and attention. (You can list your specific age groups here, e.g., ages 4–6, 7–12, and Teens/Adults).

  5. What happens after the trial class?

    • Answer: After class, we’ll sit down for a few minutes to discuss how it went. If you enjoyed the experience, we can go over our membership options and get you set up with your very own uniform!

Master Lee and his school are exactly what I had hoped for for my children. He's patient yet firm, kind and funny, caring and incredibly knowledgeable. His three black belts in Hapkido, Judo, and TaeKwonDo combined with many years of experience teaching make bringing your kids to this school worth the time and money put into it. In only 4 weeks we already saw our 5 years old son's focus, listening skills, and control grow. I very much recommend Master Lee and his school.
